Fieldwork Preparations April 2019
Fieldwork preparations are now underway for the Eastern Badia Archaeological project which starts on 24th May. This year the team are returning to the late Neolithic site of Wisad Pools. To get to the site we will drive northeast of Amman for four hours to Ruweished where we will then go off-road and follow the track south for a further three hours to get to Wisad Pools. Here I will be assisting the project by sampling their huge grinding stones for phytolith and starch analysis to try and establish what they were using the stones for. I will also be collecting sediment samples for my British Academy fellowship.
